I wouldn't say "sadly". I'm no church apologist, but in my opinion one of the things the Catholic Church has going for it is its, well, umm... "catholic" perspective. Explicitly aligning itself with a political ideology would undercut the church's moral authority.

As a Catholic we know that women cannot nor will they ever be priests. It's a dogma of the faith. It ain't gonna happen. Yet there are those women who insist on trying to change the game so to speak. They are literally banging their butch hair cut heads against a brick wall. They want to be priests. It's more about them and their opinion of what constitutes equality than it does in serving God and his people. With that being said I have yet to know or meet one single man who wants to be a nun. Go figure.

Perfect - since I just got through perusing the Facebook page of a typical greenie-weenie, Obama loving, social justice advocate, dissident Jesuit priest at Gonzaga U in Spokane (which is completely off the rails.)

While there I was able to witness many of my former religious education students soaking up this trash. It is truly a tragedy.

True, so far as you go @Cube , but consider this:

Hummer: 2000 Wh/mi
Camary: 1000 Wh/mi
Prius: 300 Wh/mi
Elite: 80 Wh/mi
Schwinn: 10 Wh/mi

Also, it should be noted that liquid H2 (not the car, the molecule) has near 1000 Wh/oz -- three times the energy density of fossil fuel.

My point being, yes, liquid hydrocarbon's have more energy than batteries, but there exist fuels with even higher energy density, and modes of transportation that don't require as much energy. Fossil fuel is a "local maxima" in the transportation efficiency game -- that's all. Society will eventually move to a different optimum once some event (war, famine, pestilence..) dislodges us from the current one.

Two centuries ago RPI guy Roebling pointed out that fossil fuel was a transient embarrassment of an energy solution, and whistfully noted that the Egyptians sustainably erected the pyramids with energy obtained from rice processed through Jews.
